(More customer reviews)I wanted an optical cable to connect my MacBook to my home theater receiver, and this works just fine. I had no trouble with connecting it to my MacBook or receiver. The cable is a good length and is plenty flexible. I like it because it's cheaper than other cables that I've looked at, it comes with two mini-Toslink adapters, and it can be used as a regular Toslink cable by simply not putting on the mini-Toslink adapters.
I gave it four stars because there was a cut across part of the sheath when I took it out of the package, so I wasn't very impressed with the quality control. Luckily, the cut wasn't deep enough to penetrate the sheath into the optical fiber. Overall, I think that it's a good choice.

Sony RK-G138 Audio Connecting Cable for Headphone Extension (3 meters) Review

(More customer reviews)I had previously owned a different brand of headphone/speaker extension cable for my computer speaker system and it worked well for about 6 months. After that, the female connector started getting loose, and I would only hear sound coming out of the left channel unless I wiggled the connector around to 'fix' the problem. I would have to repeat this process almost every day, and it started to annoy me to no end.
Alas, I came across this Sony brand extension cable, and I thought I'd give it shot.
I was pleasantly surprised when I heard a 'click' noise when I connected my speakers to the extension cord, a very snug fit. It gave me the sense of ease I was looking for - I knew that I didn't have to worry about a bad connection again.
So far, I've noticed better sound quality coming out of my speakers than before (most likely due to the fact my older extension cable was junk), and I have yet to worry about a bad connection/poor sound quality. It feels good to have my speaker system sounding right again.
BOTTOM LINE - great solution for extending the distance for your headphones or computer speaker system! Gold plated connectors, 2.5mm to 6.3mm adapter, Sony-quality, 9.8', good stuff :)

Monster Cable DVI400-1M DVI-D Video Cable Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this MonsterCable DVI cable to connect my DVD player to my new HD TV. I was certainly impressed with the image quality and the sturdiness of the cable, though honestly I found the connector pins a bit finicky.
Soon my HD system grew and I needed a way to better utilize the Sony TV's single DVI input, so I bought a very nice Geffen 4 port remote controlled DVI switch. It came packaged with 4 rather generic 6' DVI cables, which I used to connect the components to the switch, saving the MonsterCable for the switch's output to the TV.
The result was great in all cases. That's when the scientist in me took over. I started swapping cables like mad, and asking any poor soul who happened to be around to identify the best picture. The result? No one, myself included, could discern the least little difference in image quality from cable to cable.
Being that the generic DVI cable is one fourth (!) the price of the brand name, obvious questions about diminishing returns are raised.

(More customer reviews)This product is very simple and strait forward. Please note that it only works in one direction (Coaxial to fiber in this case). Also, it does require power to work.
The build quality does not seem to be the best but at this price I can afford to have a spare (or two).
If the manufacturer was going to make any improvements I would ask for channels to make it easier to ziptie excess cables to or near the device (Warning: if looping optical cable do not make the bends too small or you will crack the fiber inside and destroy the cable, make a circle with the loops 4 to 6 inches in diameter and put a ziptie at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions)

I ordered 2 one of them has a bit better connection than the other, but they are still not that great, what do you expect for 2-3 bucks though right. Pony up the dough for one that is a bit more $ around the 8-10 range, Mediabridge makes some awesome cables, thats the way i go these days.

(More customer reviews)I installed this cable about 8 months ago and could not have been happier. Occasionally the connection would fail but it was nothing reconnecting the iPhone couldn't solve. Sound quality was fine. No complaints. About a month ago however, I began experiencing strange failures. Either the passenger-side speakers/sub in my 370z wouldn't work at all with sound only coming through the driver's side. Occasionally, the connection would come through full of static, extremely muted or "fuzzy". These symptoms became permanent yesterday.
For a $50.00 cable, less than a year of use before failure is utterly unacceptable. Now I have to go through the hassle of taking my headunit out to install another cable. I'm going to try the Apple version (assuming it will work) rather than this shoddy knockoff.

(More customer reviews)This is a high quality cable. The molding of rubber is high grade. The mold of the connector casings are first rate as well. One of the prime things to consider when buying cables of any sort is to think of the points of stress during a bend, and, these cables are very thoughtfully designed in that regard. All seams are very tight with high tolerances and reinforced points. Also, the tapering of the inner part of the connector creates a limited range of motion for the wires thereby reducing the possibility of breakage. The actual connection pins have redesigned profiles that allow for slightly better surface area connection for better transfer rates. It's typical to see Apple redesign something as mundane as a cable so thoroughly as this. A lot of parts of the design could have easily incorporated industry-standard specs, but, for Apple, their designers love to redesign things from the bottom up, from the wire grade-material-sheath ratio all the way up to the connecting pins.
In any case I think if you know what you are doing then these cables are perfect for you. A lot of the bad reviews has more to do with the labeling on the box then the actual cable. It is not so clear that if it will work as normal RCA cables, which it won't. To be clear: THIS CABLE WILL NOT WORK THUR THE NORMAL VIDEO/RIGHT AUDIO/LEFT AUDIO RCA plugs. There is another Apple cable out that takes care of that. This cable is designed for HDTV split RGB/AUDIO channel plugs. And, even at that, there are some TV manufacturers out there who advertise as such but they aren't HD. They are hybrids and offer sub-class quality, which these cables will not help much for.

Just twist the stripped ends of your speaker wire, push through the connector, screw down the banana portion of the connector, et viola! nice gold plated banana connectors! no strain relief so tugging on the end result is not recommended but these are MUCH better than leaving the twisted bare copper ends to oxidize on your speaker posts.

(More customer reviews)The tuner/amplifier that I use for my surround sound system has only one optical audio input. However, both my dvd player and my satellite receiver each have an optical audio output. Prior to obtaining this device, I had to switch these two cables manually.
This switch works very well. It will switch between three optical inputs. The selector locks into place when proper alignment is reached for the desired input source.
This is a great labor saver, and a cost effective option to choose rather than face the expense of purchasing a new tuner/amplifier.

6ft Toslink to Mini Toslink Cable Review

(More customer reviews)I recently bought an Intel Mac Mini and was faced with both a golden opportunity to improve the quality of my sound output, and a dilemma. The Mini can output audio by both an RCA jack and offers optical output as well. The quandry? They're both built into a single outlet, which means that the optical interface isn't your standard TOSLink/SPDIF-sized port. But I couldn't sit by and not take advantage of feeding output directly to my home theater digital decoder. The TOSLink to Mini cable fit the bill perfectly. It's sturdy (sturdy enough anyway; you don't want to go yanking on any optical cable, but handled reasonably they're going to last), and outputs amazing, crystal clear sound quality. My iTunes library has never sounded better...same with DVD titles (now the MacOS needs to gain playback support for BluRay).
Best of all, despite the Mini-TOSLink interface type being impossible to find in your local brick-and-mortal type outlets, this was priced not only fairly but very compellingly on Amazon (at the time of my purchase anyway). I'd recommend this to anybody with a Mini, or any similar audio output!
