(More customer reviews)I wanted an optical cable to connect my MacBook to my home theater receiver, and this works just fine. I had no trouble with connecting it to my MacBook or receiver. The cable is a good length and is plenty flexible. I like it because it's cheaper than other cables that I've looked at, it comes with two mini-Toslink adapters, and it can be used as a regular Toslink cable by simply not putting on the mini-Toslink adapters.
I gave it four stars because there was a cut across part of the sheath when I took it out of the package, so I wasn't very impressed with the quality control. Luckily, the cut wasn't deep enough to penetrate the sheath into the optical fiber. Overall, I think that it's a good choice.

I was very impressed with this cable. The gold-plated male connector makes a solid connection to the computer input. The wires are massive and the RCA-stereo connectors are well-shielded, gold-plated and sturdy. This was a very good investment. I recommend it for anyone trying to connect a tape player or other device to their computer. It's a must have for people burning CD's of the LP or tape collection.

I ordered 2 one of them has a bit better connection than the other, but they are still not that great, what do you expect for 2-3 bucks though right. Pony up the dough for one that is a bit more $ around the 8-10 range, Mediabridge makes some awesome cables, thats the way i go these days.

RCA Extension Cord 10 ft. Review

(More customer reviews)I ordered 6 of these yesterday...YESTERDAY! And they already came today. Once again Amazon is amazing (actually this ships from Parts Express, but close enough).
I hooked these up to my $50 logitech X-530 5.1 Speaker system and they work great. I hooked up 4 in a row to one speaker and did several tests by ear, and honestly I can not tell a difference at all. They may be a generic brand but for cheaper sound systems it doesn't matter. Only when you start spending over $250 will you ever need to get better sound cables, and even than you may only get about a 20% sound increase for a $50 cable (I've had this happen before).
Remember though that if your figuring to wall mount speakers your going to need more cord length than you think. In my case I should have ordered a couple more cords. I only factored in the length through the ceiling and forgot to factor in the cord coming from back of the receiver (which happens to be the subwoofer) and going up to the ceiling.
The only negative thing I can think of is that they might pull apart from eachother a little easily if they are in the ceiling and someone yanks on one side a bit. For that reason once I connect mine I'll probably glue them in place.
Overall, You can't beat the price. Best Buy's cheapest is $16 for a 12' cord!

12 FT Digital Audio Optical TOSLink Cable Optic 12ft Review

(More customer reviews)While this cable will indeed provide a path for photons to move as with any other optical cable, the connectors are very poorly made. I'm guessing that they don't meet the mechanical specs for toslink, as they don't hold themselves in the jacks as they are supposed to. I literally had to use tape on one of the connectors to keep it from falling out of the port under no more pressure than its own weight. Correctly designed toslink cables stay in the same jack just fine.
Conclusion: Don't spend $100 on an optical cable (since they all perform exactly the same as far as data is concerned,) but do get one with good connectors (which can be had at reasonable prices, but apparently not this low.) Of course, for any form of digital data, whether electronic (HDMI, DVI, etc.) or optical (toslink, fibrechannel, etc.,) there is no difference in signal quality as long as the data actually gets to the other end, so a medium-cheap cable will perform *exactly* the same as an expensive "high-end" cable, unless you are in an environment with an incredibly high amount of electromagnetic noise (at which point you shouldn't have your TV or receiver [or yourself] there anyway.)

I shopped around the local big box store thinking their prices and selection would be similar to Amazon, but I was wrong. I didn't think the cables they offered were worth the money. Some of the Monster cables were over $40, and the cheapo quality ones were still over $20, and looked like they wouldn't sound very good. So I checked out Amazon and found this 15 foot cable by Belkin. It looked about the same quality as monster, so I decided to give it a shot. So far I am very impressed with the quality. It seems every bit as good as the more expensive Monster cable, but at about 1/4 the price! With gold plated connectors, double shielding and a heavy outer covering, this cable is top notch...don't let the cheap price fool you. I'd say it is a much better value than the other brands.

Monster and other companies are ripping consumers off with gobbledeygook buzzwords designed to obscure the mind and open the pocketbook.
I have installed this cable in my system, and its performance delivering 5.1 channel audio and DTS from my PS3 to my receiver is flawless. It performs identically to the other more expensive optical cable I have.
As of my last check of this product page, $1.31 as a list price and $2.98 for shipping makes for a total of $4.29. This is an outrageously good deal, beating even many other discount outlets. If you have a receiver that uses optical digital for audio input (as opposed to HDMI, which most newer receivers utilize), you simply can't go wrong. A definite must-buy at this price.
