(More customer reviews)This product is very simple and strait forward. Please note that it only works in one direction (Coaxial to fiber in this case). Also, it does require power to work.
The build quality does not seem to be the best but at this price I can afford to have a spare (or two).
If the manufacturer was going to make any improvements I would ask for channels to make it easier to ziptie excess cables to or near the device (Warning: if looping optical cable do not make the bends too small or you will crack the fiber inside and destroy the cable, make a circle with the loops 4 to 6 inches in diameter and put a ziptie at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions)

(More customer reviews)The connections arent very good, they wont stay in the optic jacks for very long, maybe i got a bad one. I ordered 2 one of them has a bit better connection than the other, but they are still not that great, what do you expect for 2-3 bucks though right. Pony up the dough for one that is a bit more $ around the 8-10 range, Mediabridge makes some awesome cables, thats the way i go these days.

(More customer reviews)The tuner/amplifier that I use for my surround sound system has only one optical audio input. However, both my dvd player and my satellite receiver each have an optical audio output. Prior to obtaining this device, I had to switch these two cables manually.
This switch works very well. It will switch between three optical inputs. The selector locks into place when proper alignment is reached for the desired input source.
This is a great labor saver, and a cost effective option to choose rather than face the expense of purchasing a new tuner/amplifier.

6ft Toslink to Mini Toslink Cable Review

(More customer reviews)I recently bought an Intel Mac Mini and was faced with both a golden opportunity to improve the quality of my sound output, and a dilemma. The Mini can output audio by both an RCA jack and offers optical output as well. The quandry? They're both built into a single outlet, which means that the optical interface isn't your standard TOSLink/SPDIF-sized port. But I couldn't sit by and not take advantage of feeding output directly to my home theater digital decoder. The TOSLink to Mini cable fit the bill perfectly. It's sturdy (sturdy enough anyway; you don't want to go yanking on any optical cable, but handled reasonably they're going to last), and outputs amazing, crystal clear sound quality. My iTunes library has never sounded better...same with DVD titles (now the MacOS needs to gain playback support for BluRay).
Best of all, despite the Mini-TOSLink interface type being impossible to find in your local brick-and-mortal type outlets, this was priced not only fairly but very compellingly on Amazon (at the time of my purchase anyway). I'd recommend this to anybody with a Mini, or any similar audio output!

(More customer reviews)While this cable will indeed provide a path for photons to move as with any other optical cable, the connectors are very poorly made. I'm guessing that they don't meet the mechanical specs for toslink, as they don't hold themselves in the jacks as they are supposed to. I literally had to use tape on one of the connectors to keep it from falling out of the port under no more pressure than its own weight. Correctly designed toslink cables stay in the same jack just fine.
Conclusion: Don't spend $100 on an optical cable (since they all perform exactly the same as far as data is concerned,) but do get one with good connectors (which can be had at reasonable prices, but apparently not this low.) Of course, for any form of digital data, whether electronic (HDMI, DVI, etc.) or optical (toslink, fibrechannel, etc.,) there is no difference in signal quality as long as the data actually gets to the other end, so a medium-cheap cable will perform *exactly* the same as an expensive "high-end" cable, unless you are in an environment with an incredibly high amount of electromagnetic noise (at which point you shouldn't have your TV or receiver [or yourself] there anyway.)

(More customer reviews)I'm usually a big fan of Belkin, but this optical cable has such a poor fit in my receiver it's disappointing. I had to use a cable tie alongside another wire and now it is resting where it is supposed to go, but not solidly held in place. There's no need to spend ridiculous amounts of money on Monster's high end cables, (digital is digital is digital), but their bargain variety is a better option than this.

Optical Splitter Review

(More customer reviews)I'm using this backwards from how it's made. Instead of using it to split one output into two, I'm splitting one input into two and it works fine. My receiver only had one optical input but I had two devices with optical outputs. Using this I now have both my XBox 360's optical output and my cable box's optical output going into the splitter and then one cable going from the splitter into my receivers single optical input. Some people told me this wouldn't work but I guessed that it would since it shouldn't make a difference which way the light is traveling. Much more convienient then buying one of those selector switch boxes and having to manually change the selection all the time.

(More customer reviews)As stated in other reviews, bits are bits. If they get from one system component to another, you're doing just as well with a $5 cable as a $60 one. Monster and other companies are ripping consumers off with gobbledeygook buzzwords designed to obscure the mind and open the pocketbook.
I have installed this cable in my system, and its performance delivering 5.1 channel audio and DTS from my PS3 to my receiver is flawless. It performs identically to the other more expensive optical cable I have.
As of my last check of this product page, $1.31 as a list price and $2.98 for shipping makes for a total of $4.29. This is an outrageously good deal, beating even many other discount outlets. If you have a receiver that uses optical digital for audio input (as opposed to HDMI, which most newer receivers utilize), you simply can't go wrong. A definite must-buy at this price.
