Cmple - REMIUM IR Extender Hidden Infrared Repeater System IR Emitters Review

As I write this I am still trying to locate information on the manufacturer of this product... The instructions, all 2 pages (one sided) don't mention who makes this.
To put it simply, while there is a relatively straight forward installation process, once you use the IR repeaters to cover up the windows of your device IR receivers, good luck having an easy time getting them to function. I have a TV, sound bar, dvd player, and Cable box connected through this system. Only the cable box seems to get any sort of reliable signal... and then only to change channels.
If I find a fix for this or even the manufacturers website I will repost.

Cmple - IR Infrared Repeater System Remote Control Extender IR Emitters Review

This product was reasonably priced, arrived quickly, and works well. I used it for a small, wall-mounted TV in the kitchen where there is no room for a cable box. I placed my cable box in the crawl space under the kitchen, wired an electrical outlet to power the cable box and IR repeater, and ran the IR repeater wire and an HDMI cable through the wall. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the IR repeater works, and have my kitchen TV without the clutter of a cable box.

I purchased this to use with an old TiVo Series 2 with a Motorola (Comcast) digital cable box and it works great. Inexpensive replacement option and easily mountable.

Terk Leapfrog Remote Control Extender Kit LFIRX Review

I purchased the Terk Leapfrog to control my Tivo from the bedroom, after running cables for the audio/video through the wall. In the end, this has worked excellently for me - so let me explain why it doesn't get the full 5 stars.
Initial setup with this product couldn't be easier. You simply unpack the two pieces, plug in the two included AC adapters - and that's it! I was surprised there was no programming it to accept certain IR codes... it just picks up whatever the remote might be throwing out, and relays it appropriately. When I first unpacked it, I set the one unit right in front of my Tivo, sitting about 2 inches from the Tivo's IR receiver. I took the other one into our bedroom and plugged it in. Presto - I could control the Tivo from the bedroom.
Now that I'd confirmed it worked, I went back to my living room to try and find a nice, out of the way place for the Terk Leapfrog to sit. It obviously had to have a clear line of sight to the Tivo... which I figued left me with plenty of choices. I tried putting it on a bookshelf, that was on quite an angle from the Tivo - but with no luck. I tried hiding it behind a picture frame (where is still had a clear line of sight to the Tivo) on a table that was closer to the Tivo... but again no luck. I went on to try 4-5 other places around the room, but could never make it work consistently.
Finally, I placed it *behind* the tivo, and used the included IR 'extender' (which is a little cable, with a peanut sized IR transmitter on the end). I snaked this little cord under the tivo, and then attached the little IR transmitter so it's aiming right at the Tivo's IR reciever. This, finally, worked. Just for comparison, I can aim my Tivo remote almost anywhere in the room and have the signal picked up by the Tivo, so I'm confident that the Tivo is not the problem here.
So... The good thing about this product is that it does work... the bad thing is that it seems it needs to be aimed by a professional sharpshooter to get the signal to your device.
Pros:
-Super fast setup
-Works great with your Tivo
Cons:
-Hard to get the 'placement' of the IR sender just right.

Logitech Harmony IR Extender System (Black) Review

Logitech Harmony IR Extender System (Black)

I am using this IR extender with various remotes and am very happy with the performance. But my road to satisfaction had a bump I can help you avoid. I, like most folks, like to test things out to see if they work before I invest much time in installation. Installation is minimal in this case, just running some wires and making room to plug the device in on a pretty full UPS, but I wanted to test it out none the less. So I plugged everything in, moved the receiver around the corner, pointed the stylish blaster at the devices (an ATT Uverse box, TV and DVD player) and .... nothing happened. Added a mini blaster and ... I got very erratic transmission. Moved them closer, farther away ... still awful performance. I could see the lights responding on the blaster. I read the instructions again, which are very brief because the product is so simple, and still could not figure it out.
So, I called Logitech support, got escalated a level and then got an answer to my blunder. I am now appropriately humbled. I was pointing the shinny rounded edge toward the electronics. It is the side with the wires coming out that needs to be pointed in the general direction of the devices to be controlled. It makes total sense for when you install the blasters. They were designed to sit on a shelf slightly in front of any equipment with their wires extending toward the back of the shelf. But, when I was testing from in front of the equipment, I did not think to turn the blaster around so the side with all of the wires attached was pointing at the electronics.
Once over this bump in the road I created, the product worked well with all of my remotes. Of note, the IR receiver - the only part that sits out in the open - has a cord that is 8 feet in length and ends in what looks just like a 3.5mm audio jack. That should cover most applications. However, if additional length is needed, a headphone cord extender would fit - I just do not know of the signal would travel the additional length.
