Cmple - REMIUM IR Extender Hidden Infrared Repeater System IR Emitters Review

Cmple - REMIUM IR Extender Hidden Infrared Repeater System IR Emitters

As I write this I am still trying to locate information on the manufacturer of this product... The instructions, all 2 pages (one sided) don't mention who makes this.
To put it simply, while there is a relatively straight forward installation process, once you use the IR repeaters to cover up the windows of your device IR receivers, good luck having an easy time getting them to function. I have a TV, sound bar, dvd player, and Cable box connected through this system. Only the cable box seems to get any sort of reliable signal... and then only to change channels.
If I find a fix for this or even the manufacturers website I will repost.

Cmple - IR Infrared Repeater System Remote Control Extender IR Emitters Review

This product was reasonably priced, arrived quickly, and works well. I used it for a small, wall-mounted TV in the kitchen where there is no room for a cable box. I placed my cable box in the crawl space under the kitchen, wired an electrical outlet to power the cable box and IR repeater, and ran the IR repeater wire and an HDMI cable through the wall. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the IR repeater works, and have my kitchen TV without the clutter of a cable box.

Terk Leapfrog Remote Control Extender Kit LFIRX Review

Terk Leapfrog Remote Control Extender Kit LFIRX
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the Terk Leapfrog to control my Tivo from the bedroom, after running cables for the audio/video through the wall. In the end, this has worked excellently for me - so let me explain why it doesn't get the full 5 stars.
Initial setup with this product couldn't be easier. You simply unpack the two pieces, plug in the two included AC adapters - and that's it! I was surprised there was no programming it to accept certain IR codes... it just picks up whatever the remote might be throwing out, and relays it appropriately. When I first unpacked it, I set the one unit right in front of my Tivo, sitting about 2 inches from the Tivo's IR receiver. I took the other one into our bedroom and plugged it in. Presto - I could control the Tivo from the bedroom.
Now that I'd confirmed it worked, I went back to my living room to try and find a nice, out of the way place for the Terk Leapfrog to sit. It obviously had to have a clear line of sight to the Tivo... which I figued left me with plenty of choices. I tried putting it on a bookshelf, that was on quite an angle from the Tivo - but with no luck. I tried hiding it behind a picture frame (where is still had a clear line of sight to the Tivo) on a table that was closer to the Tivo... but again no luck. I went on to try 4-5 other places around the room, but could never make it work consistently.
Finally, I placed it *behind* the tivo, and used the included IR 'extender' (which is a little cable, with a peanut sized IR transmitter on the end). I snaked this little cord under the tivo, and then attached the little IR transmitter so it's aiming right at the Tivo's IR reciever. This, finally, worked. Just for comparison, I can aim my Tivo remote almost anywhere in the room and have the signal picked up by the Tivo, so I'm confident that the Tivo is not the problem here.
So... The good thing about this product is that it does work... the bad thing is that it seems it needs to be aimed by a professional sharpshooter to get the signal to your device.
Pros:
-Super fast setup
-Works great with your Tivo
Cons:
-Hard to get the 'placement' of the IR sender just right.

XANTECH 48010DBKit Designer Dinky Link Infrared Kit (Black) Review

My couch is over 45 degrees off axis from all of the equipment in my media cabinet. Prior to installing this I'd have to walk over to point the various remotes through the glass at the gear. Now I can control everything anywhere on the L-shaped couch, or even anywhere in the room since I mounted the receiver where it has clear line-of-sight to anywhere I'm likely to be.
The receiver in this kit is a tiny black rectangle that I stuck to bottom edge of the wall-mounted 50" Plasma monitor, which always faces the viewer and is up high. The size of the main controller module is also very small. I stuck that to the back of the media cabinet and ran the IR emitters to the gear (Panasonic, Sony, Denon, Verizon FIOS). There are red LEDs in both the receiver and at the emitters that light when hit by a remote signal so you can tell when things are working.
Electrically it couldn't be easier to assemble... it all just plugs together. I used an extender 1/4" stereo cable from Radio Shack to make the receiver cable long enough to reach from the monitor to the controller, which fits the plug on the receiver assy and controller perfectly. The most tedious job was figuring out where the IR receiver was on each piece of gear, and then carefully running and mounting the delicate emitter wires and emitters to the gear inside the cabinet. I used a flashlight to peer through the plastic gear faceplates to locate the IR receivers, and then verified by putting the emitters over them to see if the gear reacted to signals.
A downside with this system is that the emitters may need to be pried off the gear if you need to pull something out. Fortunately this is not hard to do with care, and the sticky film re-attaches fine. I've had to do this once, and I need to do it again to replace a single emitter with a dual for new gear (now need 5 emitters total... could go up to 8 max using duals).
These remotes are advertised for controlling equipment in another room, but based on my experience having gear get into out-of-sync power-on states I could see that being a nuisance, requiring a trip to the closet to diagnose. This isn't a problem of this repeater so much as not being sure what gear gets turned on by what remotes, and not being able to tell w/o looking at the gear.
I chose this unit because it has the new broader bandwidth being used by modern equipment, and because it is more immune to plasma flicker and florescent lighting. It works perfectly with all the remotes and all the manufacturers gear I have. It's great. I love it.

brite-View Air SyncHD (BV-2322) Uncompressed 1080p Video/ Audio Wireless Transmission Kit Review

brite-View Air SyncHD (BV-2322) Uncompressed 1080p Video/ Audio Wireless Transmission Kit
Average Reviews:

I just received the Air SynchHD yesterday so my experience is somewhat limited, but so far it is working great. I bought this to use to watch TV out by the pool on game day and to eliminate the long HDMI cable that I had been dragging back and forth each weekend and hanging out a window. So far I have tested it outside and the picture is as clear as it was when the HDTV was connected by HDMI directly to the cable box. My setup outside is definitely pushing the limits of the 33 foot NLOS so it took some time to find a placement of the receiver that would allow it to connect to the transmitter. But once connected, I let it run for about four hours and never lost the signal. While I bought this for game day outside I found that I can also use it during the weekdays when we are not outside to eliminate a second cable box in our exercise room. That setup puts the receiver about 20 feet from the transmitter and works perfectly as well. We are going to end up saving over $17 a month on our cable bill by eliminating two cable boxes (the one we had designated for outside and the one in the exercise room).
One possible option to consider: The Air SynchHD only has one HDMI-in port but I have hooked it up with a IO Gear HDMI smart switch and can use it with our cable box, PS3 and Blu-Ray player. The smart switch just sends the signal for whichever one is on to the transmitter. So, we can do movies, watch cable or play games outside (or in our exercise room). I definitely recommend this setup for anyone who wants to be able to use more than one HD device with the transmitter. It is much easier than disconnecting and reconnecting cables every time you want to switch from cable box to blu-ray, etc.. Oh, and the HDMI output feature is great as well to allow you to use this device with a cable box that is also connected to another HDTV. I run the output HDMI cable to our Onkyo receiver. The receiver has a multi-room feature that feeds our outdoor speakers so we can watch HDTV in full stereo sound outside.
If I experience any problems after further use I will update this review. But, I have to admit that so far this product has worked great.

X10 POWERMID Remote Control Extender Kit PM5900 Review

X10 POWERMID Remote Control Extender Kit PM5900
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
MY father recently remodelled his home, and had all the electronics hard wired behind the walls. It's a real clean installaltion, however all the equipment (reciever, cable, DVD, CD etc) are all out of infrared range.
After figuring out he needed a universal remote, as well as needing r/f capability, the search was on for his christmas present. I had a lot of trouble finding a universaal remote that would set up easily for him, has well as have the R/F capability.
In the end, i opted for the infrared remote i really wanted, and the x-10 system. the leapfrog system appeared to have a few bad reviews, and i figured spending the extra money might make the difference (only like $10)
Turned out to be a great decision. I was concerned about the system b/c the front of all the components in the media closet are very close to the door. I purchased 2 extra extender eyes (plug into the back of the R/F recieving unit, and can be stuck right on the I/R eye of your component) but i didn't even need them. One pyramid in the closet ssomehow still controls all the componants w/o even being in direct line of sight of the i/r eye on each piece of equipment.
I would reccomend buying an extra transmitter (the pyramid w/o the antenna) as you might want to be able to control from other places once you see how convenient this is. My dad has 2, one in the living room, and one in the kitchen, if he wants to control music while cooking.he'll probably end up with another for the patio outside during the summer months.
overall, highly reccomended product.
