Sony RMVLZ620 Remote Control Up To 8 Compatible Video Components (Black) Review
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)I am very pleased with my Sony RMVLZ620 remote. It automatically controlled my Sony DVD player without any programming at all, and picked up all functions of my 10-year-old JVC TV and my ANCIENT Quasar VCR (for kids' videos) with codes in the manual. I did have to program the remote to control my Panasonic CD changer/stereo, my antenna tuner box, and my video input switch which sends video from all of those devices to the one input on my TV. However, once I figured out the one missing step in the manual (see below), programming every button on the remotes of those devices took less than 10 minutes. I also created macros to turn on all relevant devices at the same time depending on what I want to to (watch TV, DVD, VHS, or listen to a CD) using the four numbered System Control buttons.
In the manual, pages 20-22 provide the instructions to program the learning functions of the remote to teach it how to control devices that do not already have a program code. Step number 5 says to press the button on the RM-VLZ620 that you want to teach. What it doesn't say is how long you have to press it. This might just be a quirk of my particular remote but after some trial and error I discovered that I have to press and hold this button for about a second before releasing it or the Sony remote won't properly receive and save the signal from the original remote in step 6. This was frustrating for me at first but once I figured it out, I had absolutely no trouble at all programming the Sony with functions from every infra-red device that I tried.
