I have been a HK fan for years. My last HK product was the DPR2005. I had great luck with it and really enjoyed it until I went with HDMI hookups in my home theater and it had none. A high end pro-audio store along with a number of reviews for current HK product lines convinced me to try another brand. After trying in my home Denon, Sony, Onkyo, Marantz I finally settled on Marantz. The sound that I was used to just wasn't there but it was fine. I suspected that the difference was the digital path receiver. I replaced every speaker in my 7.2 surround system to try to capture the sound I like and was moderately satisfied with the sound when I was done. Just recently I decided to try to give the HK AVR 7550HD a try since it was closeout priced and not a big risk. I was wrong, the sound I missed is in the HK products and not in the others. This receiver is extraordinary! For anyone that has the opportunity to buy one why they are still left I suggest they do so. Just a word to the wise though, I would, as with any quality electronic device use a good power conditioner to protect it. I believe that most problems encountered with electronics today are power variation related and not the fault of the devices whatsoever. I spent thousand replacing speakers that were completely unneeded, had I just purchased the Harman Kardon devices that I have come to enjoy so much since I bought my first HK seperates in the 70's
